Winter newcomer Marek Janssen has saved the third division soccer team SV Meppen from another defeat. The striker scored in injury time (90+1) to make it 1-1 in a guest appearance at SG Dynamo Dresden.

The 25-year-old will definitely remember this Sunday afternoon for a long time. Because it was the professional debut for Janssen, who until a few weeks ago was still fighting for regional league points with the after-work soccer players from Blau Weiß Lohne. Now the striker from Jemgum (East Friesland) scored an important goal on his debut in the third division, which will certainly give his new employer confidence in the further relegation battle.

Kleinsorge narrowly misses the lead in Meppen

The decimated Emsländer, who had to do without eight players in keeper Jonas Kersken, Samuel Abifade, Jonas Fedl, Mirnes Pepic, Paul Manske, Steffen Puttkammer, Luka Tankulic and Willi Evseev, showed a good performance in the first half. The guest defended very disciplined and tried again and again to set offensive accents himself. When Marius Kleinsorge finished in the tenth minute, only centimeters were missing to take the lead. Dynamo’s keeper Stefan Drljaca was just able to deflect the offensive player’s right-footed shot onto the post with his fingertips.

From the middle of the first period, the home side set the tone. In particular, the second division relegated initiated some dangerous deals on the wings. The final pass mostly got stuck in the multi-legged Meppen defence. Niklas Hauptmann had Dresden’s best chance before the break, and his shot from the turn just missed the target (44′).

Pourié unlucky – Kutschke with brains

Shortly after the break, striker Marvin Pourié had a great chance to take the lead after a cross from Morgan Faßbender, who came on for Christoph Hemlein in the second half. The veteran headed the ball from a few yards, but was denied by Drljaca (48′). After that, however, the game shifted to the guest half. Dresden increased the pressure and had three good chances to make it 1-0 through Christian Joe Conteh (54′, 59′) and Ahmet Arslan (56′).

Just when it seemed that Lower Saxony would be able to free themselves a bit, it was 1-0: Dennis Borkowski crossed to Stefan Kutschke, who gave goalkeeper Erik Domaschke no chance to defend himself with a header into the near corner (71st).

“Joker” Janssen stabs

However, the deficit did not demoralize the SVM kickers. Coach Stefan Krämer’s team showed remarkable morale and were rewarded for the effort they had put into injury time. After a fine cross from Markus Ballmert, Janssen, who came on in the 76th minute, was successful with a direct acceptance.
