As of: 01/21/2023 6:45 p.m

SV Elversberg won the game against promotion rival FC Ingolstadt on Saturday 4:3.

Despite the weather conditions with lots of snowfall the night before, the game started on time. Because on their Facebook page, SV Elversberg had previously called on fans to come to the stadium with shovels to help clear the snow.

Four goals in the first half

The effort was worth it for the fans: they saw an action-packed game in the first half: Luca Schnellbacher gave the hosts the lead after Manuel Feil had won the ball and put it flat into the middle from the right (17th minute).

Just two minutes later, Nick Woltemade worked his way into the penalty area on the right and was fouled from behind by Calvin Brackelmann. The referee gave a penalty, Thore Jacobsen converted safely (22nd minute).

Goal conceded in the 41st minute

And the SVE continued: Just a few minutes later, Woltemade sent Jacobsen on the left in the direction of the penalty area. He simply pulled away from an acute angle. In the 25th minute it was suddenly 3:0 for Elversberg.

But Ingolstadt pulled himself together, became more active towards the end of the first half and was rewarded with a goal. Brackelmann brought the ball sharply into the center from the left. Justin Butler wasn’t disturbed enough and pushed the ball over the line from point-blank range.

Ingolstadt comes out of the half-time break well

After the break, both teams pushed for more goals. Ingolstadt was successful in the 52nd minute: Max Dittgen reduced the deficit to 3:2.

Ingolstadt kept pushing and Elversberg tried to counter it. Some were a bit too motivated: Just a few minutes after his first warning, Lukas Pinckert attacked Hans Nunoo Sarpei too hard in the center of midfield and saw yellow-red – only ten Elversbergers left on the pitch.

Another penalty for the SVE

That didn’t stop the man of the match, Nick Woltemade, from continuing to push for goal. Brackelmann tried to slow him down by holding his jersey. The referee whistled, Elversberg was awarded another penalty.

Brackelmann complained to the referee and was also sent off. Now both teams had only ten players left on the pitch. Jacobsen converted the penalty to 4:2.

FC Ingolstadt celebrated again in the 88th minute because substitute Moussa Doumbouya was allowed to slot freely into the left corner of the penalty area. But the flag went up: offside, the goal didn’t count. But he wasn’t discouraged: Moussa Doumbouya tried again in the 90th minute, this time the goal counted to make it 4-3.

Extended table lead

With the win, SV Elversberg extends their lead at the top of the table and now has 44 points, followed by Saarbrücken with 36 points.
