Bundesliga: Augsburgs Coach lobt Gladbach für Omlin-Transfer
Augsburg coach Enrico Maassen congratulated Borussia Mönchengladbach on the transfer of goalkeeper Jonas Omlin. “It’s a win-win situation,” said Maaßen before the Bundesliga duel on Wednesday (8:30 p.m.) about the successor to Yann Sommer, who was handed over to FC Bayern Munich.
“Sommer had an expiring contract that he didn’t want to renew, so they got a good deal of money to buy a new keeper.” Omlin is a “very good keeper,” said Maassen.
Borussia had transferred Sommer to FC Bayern during the winter break, who were looking for a replacement for the injured Manuel Neuer. There was talk of a transfer of eight million euros plus one and a half million euros in possible bonus payments. In return, Mönchengladbach brought Omlin from Montpellier HSC from France and gave him a contract until the summer of 2027. The transfer fee should be between eight and nine million euros.
