Bundesliga: Kapitän Plattenhardt verlässt Hertha nach Saisonende
Captain Marvin Plattenhardt will leave Hertha BSC after this season.
The managing director of the Berlin Bundesliga team, Fredi Bobic, confirmed to “Bild” that the 30-year-old full-back will not receive a new working paper. “The contract expires in the summer, that has been decided and clearly discussed with the player and his advisors,” said Bobic.
Plattenhardt, who also made seven appearances in the German national team, has been with Hertha since the summer of 2014. At that time he had moved to the capital from 1. FC Nürnberg.
He recently caused a stir because he was unable to travel to the training camp in the USA because of his vaccination status and thus missed important preparation time with the team. “It’s his decision, we discussed it with him. You can’t force a player to get vaccinated. It was important to us that he could train – he does that in Berlin with the U23s,” said Bobic.
