Bundesliga: Leipzigs Stürmer Werner trainiert mit dem Ball
Two months after his syndesmosis ligament rupture, national soccer player Timo Werner is hoping for a comeback in the top Bundesliga game against Bayern Munich.
The striker still trained individually at his club’s RB Leipzig training camp in Abu Dhabi, but he already completed the session with the ball. Passing exercises, sprints and jumps were part of the program. Cup winners Leipzig welcome champions Bayern on January 20th to kick off the remainder of the Bundesliga season.
Werner’s national team colleague David Raum is apparently not ready yet. In recordings distributed by the club via Twitter, the full-back completed a rehabilitation session without the ball. Raum suffered an ankle injury on vacation. How long the 24-year-old will be out is still unclear.
Werner was injured in the Champions League game against Shakhtar Donetsk in Warsaw in early November and missed the World Cup. A mission against Bayern is his comeback goal. On the other hand, Christopher Nkunku Leipzig, who has a knee injury, will definitely be missing against Munich. The French international is not in Abu Dhabi, he is being treated for his lateral ligament injury in Paris.
