Bundesliga: Müller sieht beste Bayern-Vorzeichen
Thomas Müller believes that the next “historic” season with FC Bayern is possible. In the second year under Coach Nagelsmann, things are going much better. And yet there are quickly two crack games.
Thomas Müller sees the best conditions at FC Bayern for a significantly better second half of the season than last season, in which the Munich team had to settle for the tenth German soccer championship in a row.
The 33-year-old vice-captain also knows that the ranking of the season at Germany’s top club is primarily defined by the performance at international level. “The signs are very, very good for the second half of the season. Overall, however, the games against Paris Saint-Germain and progress in the Champions League will be elementary for us as to how historic the season can be,” said Müller at the training camp in Doha .
Goal: Next treble
Halfway through the season, the German record champion still has every chance of the third treble in the club’s history alongside 2013 and 2020. Bayern lead the Bundesliga as table leaders and are in the round of 16 of the premier class and the DFB Cup. The first leg against PSG with world champion Lionel Messi and World Cup top scorer Kylian Mbappé will take place on February 14 at the Prinzenpark Stadium in Paris. Last year Bayern were surprisingly knocked out in the quarter-finals by FC Villarreal in Europe.
Müller considers his Bayern stronger in the second year under coach Julian Nagelsmann. Before the long World Cup break, an impressive series of ten competitive wins was achieved. “It was a super phase for the club and the team. We won everything and played great football,” said the attacker, who was mostly injured at the time.
“There is absolutely a development. And that makes me more than positive that we are playing a good and, above all, much better second half of the season than last year,” said the 33-year-old Müller. Nagelsmann is there for the second year and now knows the team much better. “And we know the coach better. We know a lot more what he wants from us in terms of content. We can already implement it much better.”
Adjustments were made that would have worked very well: “Everyone is on the right path.” Nevertheless, there are “still things to be sharpened”, which is also currently happening in the training camp. Bayern continue the season on January 20 at Bundesliga third-placed RB Leipzig.
