Bundesliga: Nach 7:1: FC-Coach Baumgart fordert Sachlichkeit
Ellyes Skhiri from 1. FC Köln is traveling to Munich after his injury from Saturday’s game against Werder Bremen (7-1).
It is still uncertain whether the Tunisian will play at FC Bayern on Tuesday (8.30 p.m.). “I don’t know exactly how he’s doing. I just spoke to him briefly,” said Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart.
However, there is no structural damage. That was the result of an MRI scan after the rout against Werder, in which Skhiri had scored two goals. Due to an ankle injury, the 27-year-old had to be replaced early against Bremen. “Ellyes said it’s gotten better. But we don’t have a clear statement as to whether he can play,” said Baumgart, who will probably also have Jan Thielmann back in the matchday squad after recovering from a muscle injury in his thigh.
After the 7-1, Baumgart warned to deal with the result “objectively” and recalled the starting position before the duel with the record champions: “Some want to be champions, others want to keep the class.” Nevertheless, Baumgart demanded a confident appearance from his team: “We also want to play our kind of football in Munich. We want to act just as courageously as in the other games and not survive in Munich. A good performance can also mean a good result succeed.”
