Bundesliga: RB-Sportchef Eberl über Reus-Interesse: “Da ist nichts dran”
Sports director Max Eberl has rejected a specific interest from RB Leipzig in Borussia Dortmund’s captain Marco Reus.
“There’s nothing to it,” he said before the Bundesliga game at FC Schalke 04 on the Sky TV channel. “We’re calmly thinking about the summer. Free transfer players, that’s what we have to think about today.” Several media had recently reported that the cup winner was examining a possible commitment from Reus, whose contract with BVB expires in the summer.
However, Eberl confirmed a meeting with Reus’ advisor Dirk lever last weekend. “We just drank coffee and didn’t talk much about players,” he said. The connection between the 33-year-old Reus and him and the current Leipzig coach Marco Rose is also obvious. The 49-year-old Eberl had guided Reus to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2009, Rose had trained the national soccer player at BVB last season.
With a view to a possible change from Rouven Schröder to the management of the Bundesliga club, Eberl “denied concrete talks. That Rouven is an expert, that’s just the way it is, everyone knows that,” said the Leipzig sports director. He’s “thinking a lot” about what his future team at RB will look like. “I’m trying to make the best possible decision for Leipzig, but it hasn’t been made yet.”
