Bundesliga: Torjäger Haller vor schnellem Comeback: “Alles ist möglich”
BVB striker Sébastien Haller continues to make amazing progress and is hoping for a comeback soon.
After two operations and chemotherapy, the Dortmund player, who suffered from testicular cancer last summer, has completed almost every training session at the Bundesliga club’s training camp at almost full intensity. “You realize now that all the work over the past six months has been worth it,” said Haller in Marbella.
This fuels the hope that the striker, who was hired for 31.5 million euros before the start of the season, can help the table sixth in the second half of the season in the announced race to catch up towards the Champions League places. “If the coach and the medical staff think I should play, then I’ll play,” said Haller, who did not want to categorically rule out a squad place in the first competitive game of the year in the Bundesliga on January 22 against Augsburg: “Yes, everything is possible. There are no limits in my mind. I will do my best to be there on January 22.”
As recently as November, the Ivorian international, who was hired to replace Torgarant Erling Haaland (Manchester City) from Ajax Amsterdam, had to undergo a second operation. But the worries of the time have now given way to great confidence. Even a brief assignment in the test match on Tuesday (4 p.m.) against Fortuna Düsseldorf seems possible.
