Werder Bremen left for the training camp in Spain with 28 players. The Bundesliga soccer club will spend a week in Murcia preparing for the second part of the season.

Coach Ole Werner only has to do without Felix Agu (rehab after problems with the patellar tendon) and Nicolai Rapp, who is about to be loaned out to second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern. There are four players from the U23 in Tom Berger, Tim-Justin Dietrich, Marc Schröder and Lasse Rosenboom.

“We worked very concentrated and intensively before Christmas. There were still a few training plans over Christmas and I assume that the boys are well prepared for the next few days,” said Bremen soccer boss Clemens Fritz.

The green-whites will play two friendlies during their time in Spain. On Wednesday there is a duel with the Spanish third division club Real Murcia, four days later the training camp against the Swiss first division club FC St. Gallen ends. Werder actually wanted to play against FC St. Pauli, with whom the Bremen team flew south on Monday. The planned duel was canceled at the request of St. Pauli’s new coach Fabian Hürzeler.
