Bundesliga-Winterpause: 3:1 gegen Zilina: Union gewinnt auch letztes Testspiel
Bundesliga club Union Berlin ended the winter break with their sixth win in six friendly games.
A week before the 16th matchday game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, Union coach Urs Fischer’s team won the last friendly of the winter break 3-1 (2-1) against the Slovakian first division club MSK Zilina.
In front of 3000 spectators in the An der Alten Försterei stadium, Genki Haraguchi (21st), Danilho Doekhi (43rd) and Kevin Behrens (80th) scored the goals for the Berliners, Timotej Jambor equalized in the 27th minute with a penalty kick. The Köpenickers were able to win all test games during the winter break.
Union without sick Rani Khedira
Union, without the injured Rani Khedira, set the pace from the start and took a deserved lead through Haraguchi, who dived a cross from Julian Ryerson. But the visitors became more agile and equalized with a penalty after Union goalkeeper Frederick Rönnow knocked over Slovakian striker Adrian Kapralik in the penalty area. Shortly before the break defender Doekhi was able to get the ball over the line after falling from a corner.
The second half was very uneventful. Substitute Behrens only had his first big chance in the second half in the 65th minute. 15 minutes later, the striker did better and made the decision with a brilliant shot under the bar from close range.
