David Benavidez vs. Caleb Plant Scheduled for January 2023
Former IBF Super Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant will face interim WBC Super Middleweight Champion David Benavidez in January of next year.
The match was first reported by Boxing Scene, and ESPN later confirmed that it would take place in January 2023.
Caleb Plant confirmed the news in a tweet as well. Both boxers have signed contracts and will now meet next year, according to the post.
Caleb Plant was undefeated as a professional boxer until November of last year, when he met Canelo Alvarez. Plant was knocked out in the 11th round. He bounced back from this defeat by defeating Anthony Dirrell via 9th-round KO last month.
David Benavidez, on the other hand, is still undefeated as a professional boxer. He, like Plant, is a former IBF Super Middleweight Champion. In his most recent fight, he defeated David Lemieux via third-round TKO to become the interim champion.
Benavidez has already beaten Anthony Dirrell, David Lemieux, Ronald Ellis, and others. Whereas Caleb Plant has already established himself as one of the best super middleweights of this generation. He also stated that it would be a vengeance tour for him.
Because both fighters are associated with PBC, the fight is expected to air live on Showtime in the United States. Stay tuned for more event-related news and updates.
