Doping: HSV-Profi Vuskovic gibt Stellungnahme ab und legt Einspruch ein
HSV professional Mario Vuskovic submitted his statement to the German Football Association (DFB) on Tuesday. The Croatian, who tested positive for Epo, is appealing his provisional doping ban.
According to NDR information, the 21-year-old from the second division soccer team Hamburger SV protested his innocence in a multi-page letter. The DFB will now evaluate the defense attorney’s statement and then set a date for the oral hearing.
Vuskovic, for whom five lawyers are handling the case, faces a four-year ban. Last week, the DFB announced that it had extended the deadline for submitting a statement to Tuesday.
During a doping control carried out by the HSV professional on September 16, 2022, exogenous erythropoietin (Epo) was detected. The B sample in December confirmed the positive result. The Croatian is currently keeping fit in his Croatian hometown of Split.
Vuskovic switched from Hajduk Split to HSV in the summer of 2021. This season he conquered a regular place in central defense. The 14-time Croatia Under-21 international played 16 of 17 first-round games.
