Nach Viertelfinal-Aus bei WM 2022 – Gareth Southgate bleibt englischer Teammanager
Gareth Southgate remains as their team manager following England’s elimination in the World Cup quarter-finals. The view is already in the direction of the EM 2024 in Germany.
The FA Association confirmed on Sunday (December 18, 2022) that Southgate will remain the English team manager. Accordingly, the 52-year-old is aiming for the title at the EM 2024 in Germany. Southgate’s contract has two years left anyway.
English Football Association: “Our planning for the Euros starts now”
“We are delighted to confirm that Gareth Southgate will remain our coach and lead our EM campaign,” said FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham. “Gareth and his assistant Steve Holland have always had our full support – and our planning for the Euro starts now.”
Immediately after the World Cup against France (1: 2), Southgate, who is not undisputed on the island, left his future open. In his first two tournaments, the 52-year-old, who has been England team manager since September 2016, was in the top four with the “Three Lions”: fourth at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and second at the finals of the European Championship last year.
