Real Madrid have trembled into the final of the Spanish Super Cup.
Los Blancos beat Valencia FC 4-3 (1-1, 1-1, 1-0) on penalties in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Karim Benzema (39th minute) gave Real the lead with a penalty kick, Samuel Lino (46th) equalized shortly after the break. No goals were scored in extra time.
In the penalty shoot-out, Kroos and all the other Madrid shooters converted confidently. Eray Cömert was the first to miss Valencia, but José Gayà was saved by Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Runners-up FC Barcelona and cup winners Real Betis will also contest the second semi-final on Thursday in Saudi Arabia. Defending champions Real could draw level with record winners Barcelona with a final win on Sunday and the 13th win of the Supercup.
