Hertha BSC is contesting its winter training camp in the USA without captain Marvin Plattenhardt. The 30-year-old full-back is not allowed to enter the United States because of the lack of vaccination status, as the club announced on its website.

“We discussed the issue in advance. It’s not a problem for us. We’ll take it as it is and will make the best of it. Platte will train with the U23s and join us again when we return,” said Hertha- Trainer Sandro Schwarz before departure from Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER). Via Frankfurt we go to Orlando.

With a total of 28 players, including four goalkeepers, the Berliners are guests at the camp at the IMG Academy in Bradenton near Tampa until January 14th. During this time, four friendlies are on the program. “We’re looking forward to the training camp and want to take the opportunity to work intensively on key areas: This includes precision in the offensive game,” said Schwarz.

The 44-year-old also wants to further strengthen the team spirit in Florida: “We have grown together as a group over the past few months. Nevertheless, the days together will also help us to adjust to one another even better.”

The coach also gives four youngsters the chance to show themselves at the training camp in Florida: 18-year-old Julian Eitschberger and Lukas Ullrich, as well as Pascal Klemens, who is a year younger, in defense and Ensar Aksakal in attack.
