Transfers: Mexiko statt Bielefeld: Stuttgart verleiht Klimowicz weiter
VfB Stuttgart are ending Mateo Klimowicz’s loan to second-division side Arminia Bielefeld and are handing the U21 European champions to Mexico instead. The offensive man is loaned to the first division club Atlético San Luis for a year. The Swabians announced this.
The 22-year-old’s contract with the Bundesliga club, which is in danger of relegation, is valid until June 30, 2025. Klimowicz moved from Argentina to Stuttgart in 2019, but could not recommend himself for a permanent place there.
In the summer he was loaned to Bielefeld – originally for the whole season. But even with Arminia, the son of ex-Bundesliga striker Diego Klimowicz only made five league appearances in the first half of the season.
“For Mateo it was primarily about competition practice,” said VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth. “We have found a very good solution with Atlético San Luis. We are convinced that Mateo will quickly acclimate there and will have the opportunity to take another important step in his sporting development.”
